The Exam Lifecycle

Grading scale defined
A Grading Scale is set up to map numeric scores to letter grades.

Assessment plan created
An Assessment Plan is created for the relevant student group, course, date, criteria, and maximum marks.

Exam takes place
The assessment is conducted as scheduled.

Instructor enters results
The instructor submits marks for all students using the Assessment Result Tool.

Grades calculated automatically
The system calculates each student’s total score and assigns a letter grade based on the Grading Scale.

Student report cards generated
Official report cards are generated for distribution to students and parents.

Final grades reviewed by academic board
The Final Assessment Grades report is reviewed by the academic board at the end of term.
Before You Start
Before creating Assessment Plans:- Grading Scale must be set up (defines how scores map to grades)
- Assessment Criteria must be defined (the marking breakdown - theory marks, practical marks, etc.)
- Assessment Groups should be set up (categories like “End-of-Term Exam”, “Internal Assessment”)
- Student Groups must exist with students assigned
- Courses must be set up
