Important Notes
- Held orders are stored in the browser on the current device. If the browser is closed or the page is refreshed, held orders may be lost. Always resume or discard held carts before ending your session.
- The prices shown for held carts are estimates. The server re-prices the cart when you tap Charge after resuming, so the final amount may differ if prices or tax rules changed.
- If a customer’s loyalty points were loaded when you held the cart, they will be refreshed when you resume.
Troubleshooting
The Hold button is greyed out The cart is empty. Add at least one item before holding. I cannot find the parked cart Held orders are device-specific. If you are on a different terminal or a different browser session, the cart will not appear. Check the original terminal. The estimated total on the held cart looks wrong This is a client-side estimate. The actual total is confirmed by the server when you tap Charge. Do not rely on the held cart total for quoting a price to the customer.Best Practices
- Tell the customer “I have held your cart - just come back to this counter when you are ready” so they know which cashier to return to
- Do not hold too many carts at once on a busy day - it becomes hard to match the right cart to the right customer
- If a customer returns after a long time (for example, the next day), it is better to start a fresh cart as prices may have changed
- Always discard any carts you are sure will not be resumed to keep the Held Orders screen clean
